A Night With Frank Hamilton

Last night I headed to The Garage in Islington with my friend Milky Tea Kid and we hung out with singer Frank Hamilton, who you may know as the guy who wrote, recorded and released one song a week, for the whole of 2012. Crazy! After a quick interview in his dressing room we went and checked out the venue and its surroundings before heading back to watch Frank perform. It was a great show and I really enjoyed the support acts Orla Gartland and George Barnett too! For more photos of tonight’s show, like my page on Facebook and don’t forget to come say hi on Twitter!

Macklemore and Ryan Lewis at O2 Academy Brixton

Being a big fan of Macklemore and Ryan Lewis and their album The Heist, I was pretty excited to go to the show at O2 Academy Brixton and take some photos. Macklemore is a fan of getting right into the crowd during his performances so all the photos had to be taken from elevated platforms on the side.  A bit different from the usual shooting from the pit but it was a nice perspective and I’m sure the crowd enjoyed not having their view blocked for the first three songs! It was a great show and I’m looking forward to seeing them again! Also because I know people have asked this a lot: It’s pronounced Mack-le-more not Mack-el-more. For more photos find me on Facebook or Twitter and say hi!

Hanging Out With Gabriella Cilmi

Today I met up with my friend Milky Tea Kid and we went to hang out with the talented Gabriella Cilmi. Whilst Milky Tea Kid was setting up for the interview I took some photos in between talking about Australian slang words. Bonza mate! Gabriella then performed Symmetry from her forthcoming album The Sting. From what I have heard so far it’s going to be a great album which I can’t wait for! Check out the video of her performance on Milky Tea Kid. The Sting is released in November and well worth checking out! For more behind the scenes photos, come find me on Twitter or Facebook and say hi!

Shooting the Perseid Meteor Shower

This past weekend was the peak of the Perseid meteor shower which happens every year. Perseids are primarily visible in the northern hemisphere, with the best viewing times being between midnight and dawn. Being a big fan of space and science in general, I look forward to meteor showers every year, but living in London I have never tried to take photographs because of all the light pollution. This year, I thought I’d give it a go. It was my first time seeing the Milky Way in person but because of all the light pollution it wasn’t as visible as I would have liked. Next year, if the forecast is clear skies I’m going to make it my mission to go out into the countryside and try again. Although the rate of meteors was an average of 60 per hour, I didn’t manage to capture any in my photographs. Still learning the basics of astrophotography so pleased with how these photos came out for my first attempt. Stars are awesome!

Thomas Dybdahl at Universal Music

Yesterday I hung out at Universal Music with my pal Milky Tea Kid and singer/songwriter Thomas Dybdahl. After getting some amazing iced drinks from Costa Coffee, we headed to the recording studio at Universal, affectionately known as the Engine Room, where Thomas played us one of his songs from his latest album What’s Left Is Forever. We then had a chat in the control room and filmed it all just for you!  Watch Thomas’s performance and interview later on this week on music blog Milky Tea Kid.
